1. Billet preparation: A solid, round steel billet is inspected and cut to the correct length.
2. Heating: The billet is heated to a high temperature in a rotary furnace.
3. Piercing: A specialized tool, called a piercer or mandrel, punches through the center of the heated billet, creating a hollow shell.
4. Elongation: The hollow shell is rolled and stretched to achieve the specified diameter and wall thickness.
5. Finishing: The tube is then cooled, straightened, and subjected to final inspections and tests, such as hydrostatic and non-destructive testing, to ensure quality.
6. Cold drawing (optional): For tighter dimensional accuracy and a smoother surface finish, the tube can undergo a cold-drawing process, where it is drawn through dies at room temperature. 

• Hot-rolled: Formed at high temperatures, these are suitable for large-diameter, thick-walled pipes used in high-pressure, high-temperature environments. They are the most common and cost-effective type.
• Cold-rolled/Cold-drawn: Made by further processing hot-rolled tubes at room temperature to achieve better dimensional accuracy, a smoother surface, and enhanced mechanical properties. 

• Carbon steel: Widely used in construction and for transporting fluids like water and natural gas. Grades like 10, 20, and 45 are common.
• Alloy steel: Contains other elements like chromium and molybdenum to increase hardness, wear resistance, and strength.
• Stainless steel: Made with corrosion-resistant alloys containing chromium and nickel, making them ideal for chemical, pharmaceutical, and food-grade applications. 

• Oil and gas: Used for drilling, casing, tubing, and pipelines that transport crude oil, natural gas, and other petroleum products.

• Elbows: Used to change the direction of flow, typically at 45°, 90°, or 180° angles. They are available in Long Radius (LR) for smooth flow and Short Radius (SR) for compact spaces.
• Tees: Designed to branch off from a main pipeline. They include Equal Tees (same diameter on all ends) and Reducing Tees (smaller branch diameter).
• Reducers: Connect pipes of different sizes to adjust flow rates. Concentric Reducers align the ends centrally, while Eccentric Reducers have offset ends for horizontal pipelines.
• End Caps: Used to permanently seal or plug the end of a pipe.
• Crosses: Feature four openings at right angles to connect four pipes at a single junction.
• Stub Ends: Used in conjunction with lap joint flanges to allow for easy disassembly.
